Many people think that musicians are either completely successful or completely struggling.
However, the same way engineers are neither Bill Gates or unemployed, musicians are neither at the very top or at the very bottom.
Most are happily in between.

I agree. In some ways musicians are at an advantage to others with "normal" jobs. Especially when they have multiple jobs, such as teaching, church positions. When they lose a job, such as in the recent economic downturn, they don't necessarily lose their entire income source, while when a person with one full-time job loses their job, they lose their whole income source.
ReplyDeleteHard to explain to the bank that income will go up and down. How many other people with "normal" jobs would be required to pay for their homes in cash?
